Guest Guide
At SixPlates, your safety, comfort, and enjoyment are our top priorities. Our mission is to create warm, welcoming spaces for couples to connect with others over thoughtful conversation and exceptional dining experiences. While we work hard to design every detail – from the pairings to the venues – we rely on our community to uphold shared standards of respect, kindness, and consideration.
Your Safety Matters
We’ve designed SixPlates to offer a secure and socially comfortable environment. Here’s how we help keep things safe:
- Couples-Only Format: All guests participate as couples. This structure promotes a naturally balanced, respectful group dynamic.
- Vetted Community: We review all profiles and questionnaire responses to ensure each participant aligns with the tone, values, and social openness of the SixPlates community.
- Public Venue Policy: Every dinner takes place at a reputable restaurant – never in private homes or unknown spaces.
- Anonymity Until Match: We never share your personal details or profiles publicly. You’ll learn basic details about your dinner companions once your match and reservation are confirmed, but you will not be provided with any identifying information. It is wholly up to you how much identifying information you choose to share during your dinner together. Don’t want to share your phone number with other guest? Don’t! Want to keep your last names private? Not a terrible idea! Want to exchange email addresses and meet again later? Go for it!
- Responsive Support: Our team is here to listen and respond. If something feels uncomfortable or unsafe during your SixPlates experience, we encourage you to report it. All concerns are handled discreetly and taken seriously. Reach us at safety [at] sixplates.com
Social Etiquette at the Table
The best nights happen when everyone contributes to a positive, thoughtful atmosphere. Here’s how to bring your best to the table:
- Arrive on Time: Dinners begin promptly at 7:00PM. Late arrivals can disrupt the flow of introductions and conversation – please respect your fellow guests and the restaurant staff.
- Dress the Part: We encourage a polished but relaxed look. Think elevated casual – stylish without being formal. First impressions matter, and showing effort goes a long way.
- Engage Actively: Participate in conversations, ask questions, and be open to different perspectives. A shared meal is a shared moment – lean in.
- Balance the Room: Be mindful not to dominate discussions or direct all attention toward your own stories. Make space for quieter guests and listen as much as you speak.
- Respect Boundaries: Everyone comes to the table with different comfort levels. Avoid intrusive questions, inappropriate topics, or overly personal conversations.
- No Sales or Soliciting: SixPlates is not a networking or promotional platform. Please refrain from using dinners to pitch products, services, or personal business ventures.
- Be Gracious, Even if It’s Not a Match: Not every dinner will lead to lasting friendships – and that’s okay. Stay kind, generous, and respectful, regardless of whether you “click.”
Restaurant Etiquette
We are proud to partner with some of the most respected venues in your city. Please help us maintain those relationships by:
- Being polite and considerate to restaurant staff
- Honoring your reservation and paying your bill promptly
- Treating the space and experience with care
- Communicating any allergies, dietary restrictions, or special requests directly to the server
Each couple is responsible for their own food and beverage charges unless otherwise noted.
If Plans Change
We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel, please notify us as soon as possible – ideally more than 48 hours before your dinner. This allows us to adjust the group or rebook your seat. Cancellations made within 48 hours are non-refundable (see our Refund Policy for more).
Late cancellations or no-shows impact not just the evening but the entire group. Repeat no-shows will result in removal from future participation.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
SixPlates maintains a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise discriminatory remarks
- Unwelcome physical contact or suggestive behavior
- Intimidation, coercion, or aggressive language
Violations of this policy will result in immediate review and may lead to permanent removal from the platform.
Let’s Set the Tone – Together
At its heart, SixPlates is about connection. The kind that grows from mutual curiosity, kindness, and shared respect. When you show up with generosity and presence, you make the experience better for everyone.
If you ever have feedback, concerns, or want to share a story from your night – good or bad – we want to hear from you.
